Betrayed
While most Americans celebrated New Years Eve, Republicans in Congress were busy turning their backs on the conservatives and tea party members across the country that helped get them elected. They completely abandoned their position on taxes and spending, instead choosing to raise taxes for the first time in a generation.
Thanks to the betrayal of Republicans, 77% of American households will see higher taxes, all with minimal cuts to federal spending. Mere months ago, Republicans were fighting back against the President's plan to make $10 in cuts for every $1 in new taxes. Now, the Republicans have approved $1 in cuts for every $41 in new taxes.
All supporters of the Contract From America ought to be justifiably furious.
We must now begin efforts to hold every member of Congress accountable for their vote and seek challengers in primaries and general elections to all those who voted for this unconscionable bill.
Donate right now and stand in opposition to this bill and those who voted to support it. Cocky politicians surrender to political expediency when they think that no one is watching. Well, we're watching and we're mad as hell!
